Welcome!

I’m so glad you’re here. The fact that you’ve made it to this page means you’ve already taken an important first step toward seeking support—and that’s something to be proud of. Deciding to begin counseling often comes after a lot of thought, questions, and maybe even uncertainty. Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone.

The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of meaningful change. I encourage you to take a look around and get a sense of my approach and areas of focus. If you’d like to learn more, I offer a free consultation where we can talk about your needs, answer any questions, and see if we might be a good fit.

Counseling Services

At Helping Hand Counseling, I offer personalized, compassionate support for children, teens, women, and families. My approach is strengths-based, client-centered, and collaborative, focusing on helping clients build insight, resilience, and emotional balance. Therapy sessions are tailored to each person’s needs, creating a safe and supportive space for growth and healing.

Counseling for children and adolescents:

I believe in meeting each child where they are and using a mix of directive and non-directive techniques to support their growth. Sessions may include sand tray work, role play, games, art, or bibliotherapy—creative tools that help children express emotions, build insight, and develop coping skills.

Therapy is a collaborative process between the child, therapist, and parent or guardian. Working together helps ensure consistent support and lasting progress toward the child’s goals.

Parent Counseling/Coaching:

I believe lasting change happens when children feel supported both in and outside of therapy. I work closely with parents and caregivers to strengthen communication, improve emotional understanding, and reinforce skills at home.

Through regular collaboration and feedback, I help families build connection, reduce conflict, and create supportive routines that promote growth and harmony for everyone involved.

Counseling for Women:

I provide a supportive and empowering space for women to explore life’s challenges, strengthen relationships, and build resilience. My approach is collaborative and client-centered, drawing from a variety of therapeutic models to meet each person’s unique needs and goals.

Together, we work to gain insight, reduce stress, and promote growth—helping women reconnect with their strengths and move toward greater balance, clarity, and well-being.

Insurance & Fees

● Do you take insurance?

➔ Insurances Accepted: United Health Care
Private Pay Session Fee: $115.00 for 50 Minute Session

● Why don’t you accept insurance?

➔ Insurance companies operate on a medical model, which means they require a diagnosis to establish that you have “a medical necessity” to seek services in order to pay providers.

➔ They might not feel that sibling rivalry, parenting support, or low self-esteem are medically necessities for counseling. Therefore, I have to diagnose you or your child with something in order for your insurance company to pay for therapy.

➔ That medical diagnosis becomes part of your medical record. Your insurance company also has the right to review and audit your treatment plan, which means they can read therapy notes that I take regarding our sessions.

➔ The people that audit treatment plans and records are looking for ways to save the insurance companies money. They scrutinize records to determine if you are overusing services or trying to defraud the insurance company. If you aren’t making progress as fast as they think you should, they could refuse authorizing further sessions. Certain diagnoses are only allotted a specific number of counseling sessions and then the therapist has to request additional sessions if needed.

● Benefit to Client(s) of Not Using Insurance:

➔ You aren’t required to carry an unnecessary diagnostic label on your medical record.

➔ Confidentiality & Privacy- you and your therapist are the only ones who know you are in therapy. You get to decide who you disclose that information to.

➔ Self-determination- you get to work with a therapist who is free to use the best approach she feels will meet your specific needs and therapy goals. You and your therapist decide on the length of therapy. You don’t have to get authorization for additional sessions if new issues arise in therapy
